MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) — In a recent interview on “The Devil’s Advocates Radio,” hosted by Michael Crute and Dominic Salvia, Congresswoman Gwen Moore offered her insights on a range of pressing political issues. The discussion covered topics from the new House Speaker’s actions to the recent state elections and the future of Democratic efforts.
House Speaker’s First Actions Raise Concerns
Moore expressed her concerns about the new House Speaker, Mike Johnson, and his first legislative actions. “It was terrifying,” Moore stated, referring to the Speaker’s move to pass a supplemental bill supporting Israel, funded by cutting essential services. “He was able to execute one of the major priorities of the Republican Party, which is to protect the top 1% from paying their fair share of taxes,” Moore added, highlighting the implications of these actions.
Election Results and Democratic Prospects
Reflecting on the recent state elections, Moore shared her initial fears and the surprising outcomes. “I was terrified at the beginning of the day,” she admitted, but noted positive trends in states like Virginia and Ohio. “The fact that they legalized recreational marijuana and put in the Constitution a constitutional right to choose to have an abortion, I think portends well for Sherrod Brown’s reelection in the U.S. Senate,” Moore observed.
Looking Ahead: The Government Shutdown and Biden’s Impact
As the interview neared its end, Moore discussed the looming government shutdown and the Biden administration’s contributions to Wisconsin. She praised President Biden’s efforts, especially in renewable energy, and expressed optimism about the Democrats’ prospects in the upcoming presidential election.
Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s interview on “The Devil’s Advocates Radio” provided a candid look into her perspectives on current political dynamics.
